Crossroads is a residential neighborhood in Bellevue, located east of Overlake and north of Lake Hills. Approximately 10 minutes from Bellevue Square, residents can live comfortably away from the rush of downtown, yet still easily make the commute. Crossroads is no doubt a very busy neighborhood, yet it has found a way to blend activity with community.
Crossroads gets its name from the 40-acre Crossroads Mall — home to such stores as Old Navy, Barnes & Noble, Sports Authority, QFC and many more. Crossroads Cinema is also on the large mall premises, as well as a neighborhood Police Station to ensure safety. The inner mall is filled with small boutiques and retail stores. With black-and-white checkered hallways, red beams in the architecture, and a giant chess set in the commons area, the mall has an unusually rich and personal atmosphere.
The neighborhood’s 40-acre centerpiece also hosts a variety of community events throughout the year. Every Tuesday from late-May through early-October there is a neighborhood Farmer’s Market where customers can buy locally grown fruits and vegetables, and participate in fresh salsa and apple-pie baking contests. In the evening, Late Night in the Market showcases local singers and songwriters, such as the Microsoft Jazz Band. There are also various merchant and community events offered, like the KCLS (King County Library System) summer reading program, Beading Buddies and crochet groups, an assortment of exercise classes, game nights and a free family film festival.
Crossroads also boasts significant international appeal. The mall itself features an international food court that offers Korean BBQ, a Mediterranean Grill, sushi, and if you’re lucky mandolin music from Naples at Pizzeria Guido. Carry-out dining options such as French Bakery or From Russia with Love European Deli are also available. In addition to the exotic restaurants, many of Crossroads community events specifically welcome cross-cultural residents. Various language translation classes are offered throughout the week at Mini City Hall (a local community service center), and Talk Time is a group that promotes conversation as a way of improving English-speaking skills. Conversation Café, held on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month in the common area, is another way to give residents an opportunity to connect.
Additionally, there is a recreation center and park located near the shopping center. The park features a widespread lawn and new playground, and in between the park and mall is the Crossroads Par 3-a 9-hole golf course with tree-lined fairways that is excellent for beginners and families.
