Inglewood Hill Pics 002To get to the Sammamish Plateau from Redmond, there are two sure-fire routes one can take. You can enter from the east along the rural Redmond/Fall City highway, or you can travel along the lake via Eastlake Sammamish Parkway, and head up popular Inglewood Hill. As the elevation rises, there are numerous roads that flower out into cul-de-sacs shaded by evergreens, as well as the inconspicuous side road here and there that turns into a ‘street of dreams’ with panoramic views of Lake Sammamish, and beyond. Made up of mostly neighborhoods and forest, and one of the only neighborhoods to have their own Beach Club, Inglewood Hill is the perfect place to raise a family.

Not to be confused with Englewood of Bellevue, or Inglewood of Bothell, old Inglewood Hill rises up from the east bank of Lake Sammamish and leads to the Sammamish Plateau. It is a pleasant area and boasts some of the most convenient access to the lake, aside from those who live along the water’s edge. The Inglewood Beach Club, comprised of about 100 members, gathers along their private, 150-foot long gated beach area, located at the base of the hill, for summer swimming and bonfires. It’s a special perk, as it brings neighbors closer and builds lasting childhood friendships, and it’s a great alternative to mass summer gatherings at Lake Sammamish State Park miles down the Parkway.

Not far up the road you’ll run into a round-a-bout intersection. If you continue east, you’ll enter into the commerce section of the city. Inglewood Plaza is located on the south side of the street, and across the main artery road of 228th is the Sammamish Highlands Shopping Center. There are grocery stores, pizza joints and restaurants, banks, gas stations, and numerous other amenities offered throughout these shopping plazas. Nearby there are also newly built apartment homes called, The Knolls on Inglewood. Local Inglewood Junior High boasts over one thousand blue and white knights from the northern plateau in its ranks, running off the continuing Inglewood Hill road.

Inglewood Hill Pics 005Backtracking to the round-a-bout, if you head north up the side-hill you’ll find Eastlake Sammamish Park, or ESP, as little league families like to call it. This newly renovated park plays hosts to little league fastpitch softball and baseball games throughout the spring and summer, and it is located directly behind Margaret Mead Elementary. There are also new tennis courts, a popular soccer field, and a large playground for younger siblings to enjoy while big brother or sister is out on the field! Inglewood Montessori School is in the nearby Inglewood Glen neighborhood, offering preschool to children 3-6 years of age.
