I9-s21n the wooded hills along Lake Sammamish, the Sahalee neighborhood is a peaceful Eastside residential district with a wide variety of scenic vistas and stunning homes. A quiet retreat for those who work in Bellevue or Redmond, Sahalee is a center for luxury and the best landscapes in the Pacific Northwest.

Though Sahalee has existed about as long as the rest of Sammamish, it didn’t see a great deal of growth and development until the late 1970’s. As such, it is one of the newest communities in the Greater Seattle region. This growth has been carefully tailored to the community. Sahalee is almost entirely residential. Locals have preferred the short drive to any number of commercial and retail districts surrounding the plateau to any business zoning in the neighborhood itself. This combined with the district’s preservation-minded house designs has kept Sahalee quiet and has allowed it to retain its distinctive regional foliage, including the iconic Douglas-Fir trees that have come to be symbols of the Pacific Northwest.

Many of the homes in Sahalee surround the famous Sahalee Country Club and Golf Course, the home greens of many stars of the PGA. The course is considered one of the finest in the United States. Many prefer Sahalee to Redmond or central Sammamish for its security and care as a gated community. On top of the traffic control provided by the gates, all common areas in Sahalee are manicured and maintained daily.

For the past decade the neighborhood has seen an influx of younger professional individuals and families, especially from the high-tech businesses a few miles away in Redmond. This trend has attracted innovative architects to Sahalee where they have seen a market for more unique, modern homes.

Education in Sahalee is a combination of newer local schools and established  nearby facilities elsewhere in Sammamish. There are two public K-6 programs in the community itself, Margaret Mead Elementary on the south end next to Bill Reams Park and Elizabeth Blackwell Elementary on the north side. Both have excellent reputations. There is also a Montessori PK-1 option called the TLC Academy as well as a private preschool called Little Gems. All other schools, public and private, can be found southeast of Sahalee in Sammamish.

For some of the nicest landscapes and most secure grounds in the Greater Seattle area, Sahalee can’t be beat. It’s a golfer’s dream and an all-in-all great place to call home for those who prefer a quiet, private residential experience.
