Space Needle Downtown SeattleSeattle is the largest city in Washington and the 24th largest city in the United States. Its mild winters and cool summers give life to the beautiful green and lush trees deserving the nickname, “Emerald City”. Seattle is also surrounded by the snow capped mountain ranges to the east and west, and situated between the Puget Sound and 18 miles of Lake Washington. All these elements easily make it one of the most beautiful cities in the nation.

In the last 4 years Seattle has been named the most literate city in America and also the most educated with 52.4% of all adults 25 and older with a bachelors degree. Seattle also received honors for being the fittest city. According to one study, 85% of all Seattleites get some form of exercise every month.

Seattle is also a city of many neighborhoods, each with their own distinct characteristics and charm. Below is a small sample of some of the many neighborhoods:

Ballard: With strong Scandinavian ties because of the salmon fishing Ballard is known for its fishing industry. The Ballard locks are also another fun landmark to see boats transition from freshwater to saltwater.

Queen Anne: Queen Anne is a combination of quiet neighborhood and trendy hot spots. Kerry Park is also the place to be for the best scenic view of Seattle.

Capital Hill: Is home to some of Seattle’s most interesting and diverse residence. It is the center of gay life and counterculture in Seattle.

Fremont: Fremont welcomes you to the city with a quirky “Welcome to the Center of the Universe” sign. This fun and interesting neighborhood is also home to the Fremont Troll and a statue of Vladimir Lenin.

Pioneer Square: Pioneer Square is Seattle’s oldest neighborhood that is known for its art galleries, small shops, bookstores, restaurants, and active nightlife. To honor the oldest neighborhood and rich history Pioneer Square also has an educational underground tour.
